How we tested this

Every number on this page was checked on 31 Oct 2026.

What we measured How we measured it
CallerAPI coverage Counted every number on the CallerAPI 15-day spam file on 31 Oct 2026, with each number mapped to its region
CallerAPI result per number A live CallerAPI lookup on 31 Oct 2026, recording the spam flag, the score and the report date
YouMail result per number Checked the same number on YouMail on 31 Oct 2026, without signing in
Numbers outside the US Picked from the CallerAPI file (one London, one São Paulo) and checked on YouMail in full international format
Numbers YouMail published Taken from YouMail's public lists on 30 and 31 Oct 2026, then run through a live CallerAPI lookup
YouMail API features Taken from YouMail's PS Score sheet, as published

What we didn't test: YouMail's paid PS Score API calls, YouMail's pricing, and speed on either side. Lawful callers in the samples are masked. Scam numbers are shown in full so you can check them yourself.

Coverage outside the US and Canada

The block file is every distinct number with a spam or scam report created in the last 15 days. These are counts for 11 of the 192 regions on the file, on 31 Oct 2026. The table is a subset, not a full ranking:

Region Numbers
United States 92,262
Brazil 31,654
Italy 25,059
France 19,884
Mexico 10,594
United Kingdom 6,676
Ukraine 6,384
Poland 6,257
Germany 5,220
Spain 4,639
Singapore 2,434

Most numbers on the CallerAPI block file are outside the US and Canada. On 31 Oct 2026, 71.6 percent of numbers with a spam or scam report in the last 15 days were outside the US and Canada, and 28.4 percent were in the US and Canada.

Canada adds 1,431 numbers. The US is 28% of the file.

We checked two numbers from the file on YouMail on 31 Oct 2026. A London number, +44 20 7536 3415, scores 100 on CallerAPI. A São Paulo number, +55 11 3585 XXXX, was filed in Brazil on 31 Oct and also scores 100. YouMail returns "No results found" for both.

The numbers YouMail published

On 30 and 31 Oct 2026 these numbers appeared on YouMail's public lists. YouMail picked them, so YouMail covers them by design. We ran the ones below through a live CallerAPI lookup on 31 Oct.

Same-day reports were already on the file

830-254-9512 was on YouMail's lists and was filed on CallerAPI the same day as phishing, with a score of 100 at 18:53 Zurich time on 31 Oct and a place on the file. Two more were filed the same day: 262-464-0210 under tax collection, and 819-692-0144, a Quebec number.

Why a live lookup belongs next to the file

Five Austin numbers score 100 on a live CallerAPI lookup: 512-872-2565, 512-969-6576, 512-900-4370, 512-900-4294 and 512-900-3239. They have 64 to 101 reports each. Their newest reports were created on 1 and 5 Oct, so they sit outside the 15-day file. Their report dates stay the same, but they are still listed as active, so their activity date is refreshed each day and a live lookup scores them 100. 305-703-4471 and 877-349-3294 follow the same pattern.

How a CallerAPI score works

  • A score of 100 means the newest activity on the number is from the last few hours.
  • The score halves about every 30 days and reaches 0 after 180 days.
  • A stored report of any age still sets the spam flag to yes on a lookup. Only the score falls.
  • The block file works on report dates, not on the score. A number joins it only when a report was created in the last 15 days.

That is why a number can score 100 and still sit outside the file. Load the file into your switch for speed, and keep a live lookup beside it for everything the file doesn't hold.

Lawful callers on YouMail's lists

Getting blocked a lot on a consumer app is not the same as a spam or scam report. Some lawful callers on YouMail's lists come back like this on CallerAPI:

Caller CallerAPI result
A political election text, 603-795-XXXX No report, clean, not on the file
A debt collector, 562-725-XXXX No report, clean, not on the file
A real estate office, 626-289-XXXX No report, clean, not on the file
A jail calling notice, 252-360-XXXX One report from 2022, spam flag yes, score 0, not on the file

If you block on the 15-day file or on the score, all four of these calls get through. If you block on the spam flag alone, the jail notice would be blocked because of its old report, so pair the flag with the score.

Where YouMail's public lists add a number

In the US and Canada, YouMail's public lists include some numbers CallerAPI hasn't filed yet. These are the reason to pair the two, not a reason to drop the file. None of these had a CallerAPI report on 31 Oct:

  • 929-749-5368
  • 236-707-9242, and its callback number 949-565-3308
  • 303-325-3499
  • 929-239-8196

Where CallerAPI has reports and YouMail shows none

We checked each number on YouMail on 31 Oct 2026 without signing in. Part of each page sits behind a sign-up, so an empty page does not prove YouMail has no data.

Number CallerAPI on 31 Oct 2026 YouMail on 31 Oct 2026
470-288-6604, 480-801-4722 Score 100, filed as scammers on 31 Oct, on the file No reported name, no complaints

When to stay on YouMail API

YouMail API is a good product, and some teams should keep it:

  • You want separate fraud, unlawful and spam scores. PS Score sells them as three packages, each scored 0 to 100%. CallerAPI gives one spam score and one yes or no flag.
  • You want detection based on what the call says. YouMail's scores start from audio content tied to unwanted robocalls the public receives, and the spam score adds other data such as crowd feedback. CallerAPI scores the number from its spam and scam reports.
  • You want a per-call dip or a local cache. PS Score comes as a per-call dip API or as an embedded API with a local cache and periodic updates.
  • Your traffic is almost all US and YouMail already runs in your stack. On US numbers it's a strong signal, and swapping it out may not be worth the work. Add CallerAPI next to it instead.

When CallerAPI is the better YouMail API alternative

CallerAPI is the best YouMail API alternative if you run an international carrier or carry international traffic:

  • You carry calls outside the US and Canada. On 31 Oct 2026, more than 7 in 10 numbers on the CallerAPI file were outside the US and Canada, and CallerAPI covers 195 countries. YouMail returned no results for the UK and Brazil numbers we tried, and its Score sheet doesn't state which countries it covers.
  • Your switch needs a clear answer. Every lookup returns a yes or no spam flag and a 0 to 100 score, so you can block on both. The 15-day block file is a list you load into your switch.
  • You need lawful callers to get through. A number with no report comes back clean, and every lookup shows the reports behind a flag, so you can see why a number was blocked.
  • You carry US traffic too. Use both. Block on the CallerAPI file and live score, and use YouMail as an extra signal for unwanted US calls.

The CallerAPI file is a block list that runs beside your do-not-originate list. It doesn't replace one. See how a do-not-originate list differs from a spam feed.

FAQ

What is the best YouMail API alternative for international traffic?

CallerAPI. It covers 195 countries, and on 31 Oct 2026 more than 7 in 10 numbers on its 15-day spam file were outside the US and Canada. You can use it alone or next to YouMail API on US traffic. See the spam phone number database.

Does YouMail have an API?

Yes. YouMail PS Score is sold as a per-call dip API or as an embedded API with a local cache and periodic updates. Depending on the package, it returns a fraud score, fraud and unlawful scores, or fraud, unlawful and spam scores for a phone number, each from 0 to 100%.

Does YouMail cover numbers outside the US and Canada?

Not for the numbers we tried. The UK and Brazil numbers returned "No results found", and YouMail's PS Score sheet doesn't state which countries its API covers.

How many numbers are on the CallerAPI spam file?

330,380 numbers in 192 regions on 31 Oct 2026. The file holds every number with a spam or scam report created in the last 15 days, so the count changes daily.

Is every number on the CallerAPI file a consumer complaint?

No. The file holds every number with a spam or scam report created in the last 15 days. A report is not proof that a call is illegal, so check the score and the report details on a lookup.

Why does CallerAPI not flag some numbers YouMail lists?

Some are lawful callers, such as a political text or a debt collector, with no CallerAPI report. Others are on YouMail's lists but had no CallerAPI report on 31 Oct, which is why pairing the two helps in the US.

Can a number score high on CallerAPI and still be off the block file?

Yes. The file only holds numbers with a report created in the last 15 days. A live lookup scores the newest activity on every stored report, so keep a live lookup beside the file.
